ABOUT BASHO
Our founder Ila Anoop who belongs to Dehra Dun, is an Ex Indian Air Force pilot who has proudly served the country for 10 years, operating across the country through varying terrains and challenging missions.
Having served the nation and her passion as a pilot, her nature to explore and grow, her love for fabrics, led her to pursue her passion of designing and curating sarees. We opened our first store in Dehradun in Dec 2018 and thereafter it has been a beautiful journey of growth and nurturing. The collection is for women of substance, who embrace themselves with pride, love and grace for who they are.
Our saree collection is a story of art with amalgamation of vibrant hues on the canvas of handpicked fabric. Basho by Ila also presents handcrafted jewellery, suit sets, stoles and dupattas. Each of these items have been selected for a reason and carefully designed with passion and involvement.
Come and celebrate womanhood with us. Our founder is a spiritual seeker and on her soul journey she got to know about Basho through Osho. Our brand name Basho by Ila is Inspired from a spiritual Japanese Poet and Painter Matsuo Basho who represents multidimensional creativity.
He is recognised as the greatest master of Haiku (a form of very short Japanese poetry). Matsuo Basho's poetry was a medium designed to guide us to WISDOM and CALMNESS. He hoped that his poetry will bring his readers into special mental state valued in Zen Buddhism.
His poetry reflects two of the most important zen ideals WABI-SABI. WABI means “satisfaction in simplicity” SABI means “appreciation of the imperfect”. Basho's poetry remind the readers to appreciate the moment we are in and to be attune to the very simplest things life has to offer.
